Expert Tree Removal and Sectional Felling

There can be many reasons why your tree might need to be removed. It could be because it’s diseased or dying, has been damaged by a storm, or the area needs to be cleared for construction work. Whatever your reason for tree removal, Quill Hall Arboriculture is able to assist both residential and commercial clients.

Our team of professional arborists have a wealth of knowledge, years of experience and specialist equipment in which to remove or fell even the largest trees. It’s not recommended that you try to remove a tree yourself due to the many safety risks involved, which is why it’s best to use tree surgeons that are fully-trained, certified and insured to carry out tree removal safely and efficiently.

Tree Felling and Sectional Dismantling

For tree removal, it will either be done through felling the tree itself, or by carrying out section felling, which is where the tree is removed section-by-section. This is used if space is limited or it’s not safe to fell the tree in one. Our highly trained arborists are proficient in the safe removal of trees in awkward spaces either through climbing with rope and harness or with the use of mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs).

Unless otherwise requested, all material is removed from site as timber or recycled as logs or wood chippings. Tree stump removal is also available, which includes the complete removal of unwanted stumps through stump grinding, ensuring the tree is removed completely.

Tree Felling FAQs

How much does it cost to cut down a tree?

The cost of cutting down a tree depends on a few factors, including the size of the tree, how easy it is to access and the condition it’s in. Smaller and easier-to-reach trees are easier and cheaper to remove, whereas larger trees are more expensive. For specific prices, contact Quill Hall for a quote on your tree removal.

Is it illegal to cut down a tree?

It’s not illegal in of itself to cut down a tree, but some trees might be prohibited from being cut down if they have a tree protection order (TPO). It’s recommended that for safety reasons tree removal is carried out by fully-qualified and insured arborists. They will have experience of working at height, removing trees either through full felling or sectional felling.

What is a Tree Protection Order (TPO)?

A tree protection order is a legal order made by a local planning authority that protects a tree or a group of trees from being removed, trimmed, topped or damaged. If a tree is removed that is protected under a TPO, a heavy fine can be issued of up to £20,000, but it can be unlimited for serious breaches.
