Tree Services We Carry Out in Thame

Trees on Thame properties grow fast, and rarely on your schedule. When a limb starts leaning over the driveway or a hedge swallows the boundary, you want someone qualified to deal with it properly. We are a family-run team of NPTC qualified arborists covering Thame and the surrounding Oxfordshire villages. Give us a ring and we will come out, take a look and give you an honest price.

Tree Felling and Removal

Controlled felling in open ground, or sectional dismantling with rigging when a tree stands close to a house, fence or road.

Pruning and Crown Work

Crown reduction, thinning, lifting and deadwooding to keep a tree safe and balanced without spoiling its natural shape.

Hedge Cutting and Shaping

Seasonal trims and hard reductions on overgrown boundaries, including long runs of leylandii and laurel on larger plots.

Stump Grinding and Site Clearance

Stumps ground out below ground level, plus full vegetation clearance for gardens, paddocks and pre-construction plots.

Local Tree Work Backed by Real Qualifications

We have been climbing, felling and pruning across Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire for more than ten years, and Thame sits comfortably inside our regular working patch. Every job is completed to BS3998 standards by arborists holding NPTC certification, and we carry £10 million public liability insurance on every site we attend. Our staff are DBS checked, and the same faces turn up each visit.

How We Work

  • A free site visit, with your written quote sent the same day or the next.
  • The price we quote is the price you pay, with nothing added once work begins.
  • Risk assessments and method statements supplied on request for commercial sites.
  • All arisings chipped, removed and recycled, and your ground swept clean.

FAQs

Do I need permission before carrying out tree work in Thame?

Possibly. Thame has a conservation area covering much of the historic centre, and individual trees around the town may carry a Tree Preservation Order. Both are administered by South Oxfordshire District Council. We check the status of your tree before quoting and handle any application on your behalf.

Late autumn and winter suit most species, as the tree is dormant and the cuts heal with less stress. Deadwood removal, crown thinning and work on a tree that has become unsafe can be carried out at any point in the year.

Everything is chipped and taken away as standard, then recycled as woodchip, mulch or firewood. If you would rather keep the logs for your own burner, say so before we start and we will cut them to length and stack them.

Yes. Ash dieback is widespread across Oxfordshire hedgerows and field boundaries, and infected trees turn brittle quickly, which makes them dangerous to climb once decline sets in. We assess the level of dieback, remove the trees posing a risk and monitor those showing resistance.

We do. Fallen trees blocking access, split trunks and branches left hanging in the canopy all need dealing with quickly, and we prioritise anything putting people or property at risk. Ring the office and we will get to you as soon as we can.
